Our Scheduled Initiatives
Protection Measures
- Know your role and responsibilities. Be clear about what you are supposed to do and how you are expected to do it.
- Understand your limits and abilities. Let the organizers know if you have any physical or mental limitations that could affect your ability to perform your duties.
- Wear mask, gloves and hard shoes. Make sure you have the appropriate protective gear for the activities you will be involved in.
- Identify and avoid hazards. Be vigilant for potential dangers, such as sharp objects, uneven terrain, or traffic hazards. Report any hazards to the organizers immediately.
- Stay hydrated and take rest breaks. Drink plenty of water and take regular breaks to prevent dehydration, fatigue, and heat-related illnesses.
- Stay visible and signal for help. Wear reflective clothing in areas with traffic and signal for help if you are in danger or feeling unwell.
- Communicate with organizers and fellow volunteers. Keep open communication channels to report any safety concerns, incidents, or observations.
What shall we bring?
- Mask. Even though we are out of the covid-era, many plastic litter crumble when we grab them, making us to enhale nano-plastics
- Work gloves (NOT disposable or kitchen as there are sharp objects and glasses in these places)
- Giant Heavy Duty or Garden Bags (helps count volume while holding up to sharp objects and heavy weight)On most of our cleanups we can supply you with bags, but not in all of them.
- Your own water (there is no nearby tap or Mini market in most of our places. Prefer refillable water bottles)
- Antiseptic for your cleanliness and/or alcohol. Avoid cleansing wipes.
- Shoes with a hard, durable sole to step with more...confidence.
How do we act?
- We spread out in the area and first collect the seemingly "fresh" recyclable materials (coffee cups, plastic boxes, paper boxes, aluminum, glass) and collect them in separate bags for recycling.
- Toilet paper, straws, plastic caps, toothbrushes, calling cards, CD DVDs, Pens, styrofoam, lamps, toys, and cutlery are NOT recycled.
- We collect all the garbage in a certain place and do not throw it away before the end of the cleaning.
- We continue to collect large items and collect them together with recyclables with a clear separation.
- Once we finish cleaning, we take pictures of the collected volume.
